Zuni Tribal Member Big Game hunts
General Information
The Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department (ZFWD) is a professional organization within the Pueblo of Zuni that offers a variety of hunts with fixed dates. Once approved by the tribal council, these dates are set and non-negotiable
Hunting on the Zuni Reservation is a privilege. All visitors must abide by all Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department, Tribal, and Federal Regulations. The Pueblo of Zuni is not responsible for accidents, thefts, damages, or loss of articles incurred by individuals. Violators will be subject to penalties under Zuni Tribal and Federal laws.
The License year of the Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department Tribal Big Game Proclamation will begin April 8, 2026, and will end on January 31, 2027.
All applicants are responsible for reading and understanding the Proclamation Rules and Regulations before applying. The Proclamation Rule and Regulation, tag numbers, and permit cost are approved through to the end of the 2026-2027 hunting season.
2026-2027 Hunting Season Updates
- Permits will not be mailed or emailed. All permits must be picked up in person at the Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department during regular business hours or by appointment. Hunters (including youth) or parents/guardians must sign for permits.
- Turkey, Mountain Lion, and Bear are protected species on Zuni Tribal Lands and may not be hunted, harassed, or harvested without a permit issued by ZFWD.
- Hunters listed as ineligible for the 2025–2026 season must pay a $100 late fee and submit their required hunter survey.
- Archery hunters who previously qualified (2024–2025) must requalify prior to the 2026–2027 hunting season.
