General Public Big Game Hunts
General Information
The Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department (ZFWD) is a professional organization within the Pueblo of Zuni that offers various hunts with fixed dates. Once approved by the tribal council, these dates are set and non-negotiable. Hunting opportunities range from 5 to 7 days and include an optional one-on-one guide service.
General public hunt packages include lodging and meals at the local Halona Plaza Inn Bed & Breakfast, which has been family-owned since 1910. For the pursuit of trophy-quality free-ranging animals, the ZFWD provides the best experience, from having top-quality guides that offer the best customer services, having warm meals 3-times a day waiting for you, and getting a good night's rest and back at it the next day. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of hunting.
For a unique hunting experience, sealed bid hunts are available through the ZFWD. Each hunter can submit a bid for one or two of the sealed bids. One (1) hunting package is auctioned off Friday Night at the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo at the Conservation Auction, adding an element of excitement and competition to the hunt.
The purchase of a Zuni Tribal General Public Tag(s) permits hunters to hunt on the Zuni Reservation for that season. Hunting on the Zuni Reservation is a privilege. All visitors must abide by all Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department, Tribal, and Federal Regulations. The Pueblo of Zuni will not be responsible for any accidents, thefts, damages, or loss of articles incurred by individuals. Violators will be subject to penalties under Zuni Tribal and Federal laws.
Once all necessary payments have been finalized and accepted, ZFWD will provide a list of available hunting guides. Hunters must make separate arrangements with their guides regarding fees, rates, and gratuities.
