Zuni Tribal Member Big Game hunts
General Information
The Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department (ZFWD) is a professional organization within the Pueblo of Zuni that offers a variety of hunts with fixed dates. Once approved by the tribal council, these dates are set and non-negotiable
Hunting on the Zuni Reservation is a privilege. All visitors must abide by all Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department and Tribal and Federal Regulations. The Pueblo of Zuni is not responsible for accidents, thefts, damages, or loss of articles incurred by individuals. Violators will be subject to penalties under Zuni Tribal and Federal laws.
The License year of the Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department Tribal Big Game Proclamation will begin April 16, 2025 and will end on January 31, 2026.
All applicants are responsible for reading and understanding the Proclamation Rules and Regulations before applying. The Proclamation Rule and Regulation, tag numbers, and permit cost are approved through end of the 2025-2026 hunting season.
What's new for 2025-2026?
- Archery Hunters who qualified during the archery qualifications in 2024-2025 season, will be good until the end of 2025-2026 hunting season. requalification will be required before the 2026-2027 hunting season.
- New applicants applying for archery hunts must qualify for their archery hunt after they are drawn. See Archery Qualification details in "Continuing Actions."
- Senior Citizens (65 and over), Handicapped, and disabled permits: Zuni Tribal members ONLY will receive a 10% discount on big game hunting permit. Must show proof of disability & handicap from a physician or Division of Motor Vehicle placard.
- Hunters on the 2024-2025 ineligible list must pay a $20 late fee and submit a hunters survey. After January 31, 2026, all ineligible hunters that have not paid and submitted their survey will be moved over to a new listing along with a new fee and still be required to submit a survey.
- For the 2025-2026 hunting Season, ZFWD will recommend hunters to submit their survey 15 working days after their hunt has concluded. Although, all survey will be due January 31, 2026. Late survey submitted after January 31, 2026 will be required to pay $100 late fee and still be required to turn in the hunt survey.
- The $100 late survey fees will fund the Operation Game Theft, Hunter Youth Education, and hunter incentives deemed necessary.
- The use of game/trail cameras is allowed starting August 1st of each new hunting season. Game/trail cameras must be removed from the field on January 31st at the end of each hunting season. Game/trail cameras found after January 31st or before August 1st will be confiscated by the appropriate authorities.
