General Information
The Zuni Fish & Wildlife Department offers a variety of hunting and fishing opportunities. Hunting permits for Zuni Tribal Members, Non-Zuni Residents, and Non-Zuni Spouses are available for dove, waterfowl, small game, furbearer, and coyotes. A Zuni Habitat Fee is required for all hunting, fishing, and trapping activities. The habitat fee will fund habitat improvement projects throughout the Zuni Reservation.
The License year of the Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department fishing Proclamation will begin May 1, 2025, and will end on April 30, 2026.
By the Fishing Proclamation that has been set forth and approved by the Tribal Council, only the Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department (ZFWD) and its recognized vendors may issue small game hunting and fishing permits.
All applicants must read and understand the Proclamation Rules and Regulations before applying. The Proclamation Rules and Regulations, permit numbers, and permit cost are approved through the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Important Reminders
- The Zuni Fish and Wildlife Department (ZFWD) has the Authority to shut down fishing for the General Public due to drought, limited water bodies and resources, or other environmental factors and events that may occur.
- Please refrain from any disgruntled behavior towards any of the recognized Vendor employees. Any questions, issues, and concerns, please contact the ZFWD. Vendors have the right to refuse service and the right to contact the appropriate authorities for any disgruntled customers.
- Do not clean birds & fish at windmills, stock tanks, and lakes.
- Do not litter or improperly dispose of dove/waterfowl/small game/fish parts.
- Do not leave fires unattended or improperly handle fires. Please be aware of fires ordinance that may be in effect.
- Beware of Livestock.
- Close all Gates.
FREE FISHING DAYS
May 11th - Mother's Day. Females only. No license required ( all fishing rules and regulations apply. Limited to Zuni Tribal Members, Non-Zuni residents & Spouses.
June 16th - Father's Day. Males only. No license required (All fishing rules and regulations apply). Limited to Zuni Tribal Members, Non-Zuni Residents & Spouses.
